Industrial Laundry Delivery License
You need an Industrial Laundry Delivery License if your business moves certain laundry.
You need this license if you transport laundry:
- From a business in the City to an industrial laundry inside or outside the City
- From a business outside the City to an industrial laundry in the City
- From an industrial laundry in the City to a business inside or outside the City after laundry services
- From an industrial laundry outside the City to a business in the City after laundry services
Laundry services means washing, drying, starching or ironing laundry for a fee. It does not include dry cleaning.
If you already have an Industrial Laundry License from the NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) and you do Industrial Laundry Delivery services, you do not need this license.

Get your business certificate: You need a Business Certificate based on your business's legal structure. You do not need to submit this document with your application, but DCWP may ask for it.
- Sole proprietors using a different name need a Business/Assumed Name Certificate.
- Partnerships need a Partnership Certificate and, if needed, an Assumed Name Certificate.
- Corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability companies or limited liability partnerships must register with the New York State Division of Corporations. Check your status at www.dos.ny.gov/corps.

Complete the basic license application: Fill out the Basic License Application with your business information, identification numbers (EIN, SSN or ITIN), contact details and history of any criminal or civil charges or licenses.

Complete the industrial laundry delivery self-certification: The owner (sole proprietor, general partner, director, officer or shareholder with 10% or more ownership) must fill out the Self-Certification form.

Provide your sales tax ID: Include your New York State Sales Tax Identification Number or Certificate of Authority Application Confirmation Number on the Basic License Application.

Submit a $500 surety bond: Provide a signed copy of your $500 Surety Bond, naming the City of New York as Obligee. Make sure all names and addresses match on all documents. Include the bond receipt showing full payment and that it will not expire before the license period ends.

Granting Authority to Act Affirmation: If someone else is preparing and submitting your application, you must submit a Granting Authority to Act Affirmation. The applicant must sign all required documents.

Pay the license fees: License fees are pro-rated based on when you file your application. Here is a table to help you understand the fees.
*If you apply within six months of the license expiration date, you can pay the prorated fee plus the full fee for the next term. This way, you will not need to renew until the end of the next period.
Note: A nonrefundable 2 percent convenience fee is charged for using a credit card.

Notification by mail: You will get a letter about your license application within two weeks. This will be after the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) gets all needed papers.
- If your application is approved: DCWP will send you your license.
- If more information is needed: DCWP will send you a letter. It will tell you what to send. You must send these papers within 10 days. If you do not, your application will be denied.
- If your application is denied: DCWP will tell you why. They will also tell you how to reapply.

License validity: Licenses last for up to two years. They expire on December 31 in odd-numbered years.

Informing DCWP of changes: If your approved application changes, tell the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP). Call 311 or visit the DCWP Licensing Center. Call 311 to check if you need to visit the center. You can only visit the Licensing Center if you have a disability and need to make an in-person visit.
